From a chance meeting at the pool to a lifetime commitment—this is how our journey began.
An Unlikely Beginning
Kristina and Christopher's paths first crossed at the Osborne Aquatic Center, a place familiar to them both for different reasons. Christopher, an experienced lifeguard, was a steadfast presence by the water. Kristina, passionate about teaching, was instructing a beginner Water Polo class.
A particular moment served as an unexpected catalyst. Observing Kristina's class grappling with the challenging egg beater kick, Christopher offered his assistance. What began as a simple, professional courtesy—one instructor aiding another—soon evolved. Amidst the sounds of the aquatic center, a genuine connection formed, setting the stage for something more profound.
A Meaningful Return
Five years later, the memory of their first date remained vivid: a winter evening that spanned from Corvallis to the festive glow of Portland's Zoo Lights, a walk along the waterfront, and culminated with the impressive city views from Council Crest.
To mark their five-year anniversary, Christopher suggested they retrace the steps of that significant evening. Standing once again at Council Crest, with the Portland skyline spread before them, the moment felt resonant. It was here, against this familiar and cherished backdrop, that Christopher asked Kristina to marry him. Her heartfelt “yes” affirmed their journey, promising a future as bright as the city lights below.
